'Stay at Home Mile' - FitMums

Yesterday, we launched the Fitmums & Friends ‘Stay at home mile’ – a new idea to help keep people moving at a time when being confined and isolated may strongly limit ability and desire to be active.

We are encouraging people to run or walk at least a mile a day, in whatever space they have – it is even possible to run or walk a mile on the spot! A mile is about 2,000 steps. If people prefer, they can break this up and do, for example, 500 steps four times a day. This way the challenge also works for children, while older people can do arm chair walking on the spot.

To track completed miles, participants colour in a segment on our rainbow chart (see attached). Within a month, they will have a beautiful coloured rainbow, which can also be displayed in a window to show support for our amazing NHS and key workers.

More information and the rainbow chart can be found on our website at https://fitmums.org.uk/news-article/Stay-at-home-mile/198

We would love it if you could share details of this challenge within your organisations and on your social media channels. You are welcome to share the post pinned to the top of our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/fitmumsnetwork/ or retweet our launch tweet at https://twitter.com/FitmumsF/status/1245401057901117440

Stay safe everyone.

Kind regards
