Dear Resident
Ref:  Date 9th August 2019
Notice of the intention to undertake works at Seathorne, Withernsea

As you’ll be aware over the past year our works contractor CR Reynolds has made little progress towards improving the condition of the grass field that they used whilst undertaking the Seathorne seawall strengthening works. Rather than letting this situation continue this Council, with the agreement of CR Reynolds, has taken the decision to employ Landplan (a specialist grounds maintenance company) to do the work instead.

Landplan say the only way to achieve a satisfactory grassed surface is to remove what’s there and reseed a new layer of imported topsoil. Unfortunately this will cause some disruption and mean it’ll be at least another year before we get a satisfactory outcome. To provide public access through the site whilst the new grass establishes a 10m wide strip along the cliff top is to be left untouched, the hope is that this will discourage people from walking over the newly prepared surface.

This work is due to start early next week and should then take about 6 weeks to complete, thereafter monthly maintenance visits will be undertaken for a period of a year.

I trust this work doesn’t cause you too much inconvenience.
