Members of the public are being asked to stay clear of a yellow-white substance which has been washed up on the beaches at Bridlington.
The waxy substance is thought to have first appeared after high tide yesterday on Bridlington’s north and south beaches and has now been seen on the sands between Danes Dyke and Fraisthorpe.
East Riding Yorkshire Council is investigating and will continue to monitor the situation, alongside Humber Coastguards and the Environment Agency.
The beaches remain open as normal, but as a precaution residents are asked not to go near the substance.
Dog owners are also asked to keep their pets away from the substance.
The council will keep residents updated.
