Promenade Etiquette
Withernsea Promenade is a designated route for cycles.
It has not been uncommon for us to receive complaints from residents walking along the promenade that cyclists come past them at speed, without any warning. We want all users of the promenade be it walkers, runners, cyclists, mobility scooter users, etc to safely enjoy the experience, so we ask that they show mutual respect for each other.
A designated cycle path/lane would perhaps be better, but this may be out of our hands as East Riding of Yorkshire Council has responsibility for the Promenade and Foreshore. Your thoughts on this are welcome. Maybe a courtesy toot on a horn or a cycle bell would alert others of your approach.
