It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our friend and colleague Councillor Keith Hardcastle. Keith had been on the Council continually for over 35 years, from the very first day. He had been Mayor 5 times, in 1990, 1995, 1999, 2001 & 2002.
His achievements on behalf of the town were so many it is difficult to know where to begin. He had been involved in all of them. Various Regeneration and improvement schemes over the years, Tourism events, Christmas Lights and, of course he was on of the founders of Withstock. He and his wife Pat spent many a weekend in the Valley Gardens and ran the Pop In Club, and later was a Trustee of the Meridian Centre. Many of the projects that he was involved in were aside from the Council, he was a member of many local charities and organisations. As a Town Councillor he was always committed 100% to getting a better deal for Withernsea. He was straight talking, no nonsense and a stickler for the rules. It is testament to the man he was that he was still here, 35 years on,. still fighting Withernsea’s corner to get the best for the town he loved. He will be very sorely missed.
